New How-To Series Coming to YouTube

Now that the CS6 Worldwide Launch Tour is over, I thought I’d take the opportunity to record a new series of How-To videos on some really basic (and more importantly, frequently requested) topics.

The first one (not quite so basic, but hella fun to play with) is an Audition tutorial on creating the tape stop/cut the power/kill the turntable effect using the Stretch & Pitch effect. This used to be more easily achieved in the old version of Audition CS3 (using the Pitch Bender with its unique envelope graph)…but the technology under the hood stil exists…you just need to know where to find it.

The request came to me just the other day from a friend of mine over at KROQ in Los Angeles. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks…

Pirate Teeth: A new song, a rough mix.

We’ve just completed the final international stop of our CS6 WW Launch Tour, and it’s truly been an amazing ride. Over the past 10 weeks, our team consisting of myself, Terry White, Rufus Deuchler and Paul Trani have traversed the globe bringing CS6 goodness to all…and it’s one of the most memorable launches I’ve ever experienced in my nearly 12 years of doing this gig.

In any case, back in Moscow (a few weeks ago) I debuted a new song I’ve been working on for my (soon-to-be-released) children’s music show, Just Play Music™ entitled PIRATE TEETH. In Johannesburg and Capetown (today), I showcased live mixing of this new tune via IP-based controllers (using a 3rd Party iPad App to control Adobe Audition) and the responses were so good (and there were quite a few requests) I figured I would just make the song available to everyone, even in its raw, rough-mixed form.

You can download the rough/faders-only mix of Pirate Teeth HERE

It’s about 5.5MB…Hope you enjoy! Now, for the audio geeks out there: this is a rough, faders-only mix, meaning that I literally brought up all the faders and exported. No EQ, no mastering, only a little (analog) Echoplex delay on my Live Vocal and some compression on the entire mix (solely to make it louder for distributing via the web). But it’s raw, live, and I hope you enjoy it.

Let me know what you think!!

Oh, and here are the lyrics, by request (it is, after all, a really fast tune!)

Pirate Teeth
Words & Music by Jason Levine/©2012 Boodahjoomusic (BMI)

Chorus (and start of tune):

You’ve got to brush ’em, brush ’em
So you don’t get Pirate Teeth
You gotta brush ’em twice a day so you don’t get Pirate Teeth
They will fall out of your mouth and it will be quite a scene,
Turning multi-colored, yellow, brown and shades of green
When you have Pirate Teeth (Har! Har! Har! Har!)
When you have Pirate Teeth (Har! Har! Har! Har!)

Scurvy’s not unnerving when you have Pirate Teeth
Because you help yourself to servings of whatever you please
But without a daily dosage of your Vitamin C
You’ll be whilstin’ Dixie through a gap as wide as the sea
When you have Pirate Teeth (Har! Har! Har! Har!)
When you have Pirate Teeth (Har! Har! Har! Har!)

BRIDGE (Eb Maj7):
But the affects are reversible
If you eat your fruits and vegetables
Yes, the affects are reversible (if you brush ’em twice a day, morning and night)
If you eat your fruits and vegetables and get your Vitamin C and brush ’em right

Piano solo…

BRIDGE

Now you know the story about Pirate Teeth
So let this be a warning to prevent Pirate Teeth
They will fall out of your mouth, and it will be quite a scene
Turning multi-colored, yellow, brown and shades of green
You gotta brush ’em, brush ’em so you don’t get Pirate Teeth
You mustn’t rush it or you may end up with gums that bleed
And those little rotten chompers will not want to be seen
After turning multi-colored, yellow, brown and shades of green
When you have Pirate Teeth (Har! Har! Har! Har!) x3

Harrrr!!

CS6 Tour Site is LIVE. Pics, Vids & More…

It’s hard to believe that we’re a little more than half-way thru the CS6 WW Launch Tour.

I’ve been planning a little wrap-up post on the blog (as well as some posted content, as promised at recent shows in Moscow and Istanbul) but in the interim, I thought I would link to our special CS6 Tour Site, created entirely in Muse (in an airport lounge no less) by my good friend and evangelist road warrior, Terry White.

I’m currently in London, filming a series of special videos to be presented at a later date. Following the studio gig here, we’ll be off to S.Africa to present in Johannesburg & Capetown…and following those shows, Terry, Paul and I will fly out to Sabi Sabi to participate in a Nikon-sponsored nature/wildlife event. I’ll have the D4 and D800 at my disposal (along with an arsenal of lenses) to capture some incredible video, all of which will appear in future presos and videos here and on Vimeo.

More from the road…stay tuned.

And here it is again: The CS6 WW Launch Tour Site
